Holocaust Memorial Day Events

There are two events next week to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, both taking place in St John’s Church in Peterborough City Centre on Thursday 26th January, which is the day before the day is marked nationally.

The first is the city’s civic commemoration at 12 noon in St John’s. The commemoration will begin after a procession from the town hall at 11.40am by various civic dignitaries and a drama performance in Cathedral Square by students from St John Fisher School and will be followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the memorial in St John’s Square and then refreshments in the church at around 1pm.

People across the country are invited to mark Holocaust Memorial Day by lighting a candle and placing it in a window at 4pm on 27th January. Details about that can be found on the HMD website here: https://www.hmd.org.uk/lightthedarkness/
