Peterborough Armed Forces Day was setup in 2010, to celebrate the contribution of our Armed Forces Personnel. From then, we have constantly strived to get bigger and better each year.
The day is family orientated, and we welcome visitors from all cultures, origins and backgrounds. With fun for all the family, 2019 is set to be a fantastic day, with a whole array of attractions.
We have a shopping area, where when you buy anything, you are supporting a local independent trader, to a collection of Private Military vehicles, both old and new.
We will have a variety of displays and acts on the stage and in the arena, so there is something for everyone.
To kick the day off, veterans and serving personnel along with cadets and other organisations will parade into Cathedral Square Main Arena, where the inspection will be taken by The Mayor of Peterborough and Officers in Command from the Armed Forces, before we kick off with the programme of events running on the stage and in the arena.
You will find information about joining the Armed Forces, the work of the charities supporting our veterans and even have a look in the cab of an Army truck.
This is part of a national occasion to show your support for the Armed Forces for the outstanding work they do for our nation.
Armed Forces personnel are deployed around the world, often in dangerous and difficult conditions, they are helping other nations’ humanitarian and peacekeeping efforts as well as protecting the UK. Your support for them and their families is vital.
The Armed Forces community is diverse and includes Reservists (we have some amazing reservists based in Peterborough), veterans, cadets and Service families. Anyone who has previously served in the Armed Forces is deemed a veteran, regardless of age and are a valued part of our society.
So come along and join us…..
